Guest Room Redo

What finally motivated us to tackle the guest room makeover? Or the guest room resurrection as we like to call it.

Back in March, my mom’s house sold, but her new one is still under construction. So…it’s a good thing several of her adult children have houses with a room to spare for her and the youngest kiddos to land for a few months…

So, when we found one of my sisters would be staying with us, we decided it was time to turn the “random” room into an actual bedroom.

Enter the RANDOM room.

Not terrible, just a storage room of sorts, with the random leftovers. The rug I didn’t like in the living room, pillows that didn’t match my couches, and my husband’s queen-sized bed that he didn’t want to get rid of.

My goal was to use of all of these random pieces (where else would I put them??) and come out with an inviting bedroom at the end of it all. So I pulled the major “leftover” items I wanted to be sure to incorporate: the bed, mirror, and rug. Then, we made a quick stop at Target and picked up a this lovely comforter and cute yellow blanket. Finally, to brighten the room, we chose a light blue paint for an accent wall.

In all, we ended up spending about $150.

Accents & Painting

While I gave the bed frame a makeover, Michael put up the trim pieces for the accent wall (he’s the BEST).

Next….caulking and paint…

The accent wall actually made a huge difference in lightening up the room and making it feel so much bigger. And now for the fun part! Well, after clean up, of course.

WHITE bed frame! It turned out so cute, and also did a lot to brighten the room.

The *NEW* Guest Bedroom

At last, the guest room resurrection is complete! We are super happy with how the guest room makeover turned out. This is probably one of my favorite projects to date. It was so fun to tie together the misfit pieces we had and see it come out so cute! I was about ready to get rid of the bed and the rug, but I’m so glad I didn’t.

So maybe the random items you have laying around are just waiting to make something beautiful?
